The preoperative stage
Before surgery, it is necessary to check the general health of the patient. Preoperative tests may vary depending on each patient, but generally include the following: blood test, chest X-ray, electrocardiogram.
At the preoperative visit, the surgeon will evaluate the test results and will resolve all questions or concerns you have. Communication between doctor and patient is essential at all times. On the same day, you will be informed in detail the time of admission and the documentation you will need, so you do not have to worry about anything. You will also be given a form to sign providing your informed consent.
If necessary, in the preoperative period we will use complementary therapies to ensure your maximum welfare before and during the operation, and to improve postoperative outcomes. The use of these therapies as part of an integrative medicine approach helps to reduce inflammation and pain, and reduce recovery time and the risk of bleeding.
The operation
Nasal surgery is performed under local or general anaesthesia. The duration depends on each case and type of surgery, and can range from 15 minutes to 3 hours.

The postoperative stage
For the first few hours after the operation, you will be in bed with your head elevated to minimize the possibility of edema and swelling in the tissues affected by the operation.
Nasal packing is often needed, which is then removed between 1 and 4 days after surgery.
We will give you antibiotics to prevent possible infection. If necessary, we will prescribe a sedative and / or anti-inflammatory medication.
It is likely that we recommend two sessions of Oriental medicine using acupuncture or suction cups in the first 10 days after surgery. These procedures reduce edema and hematoma, and accelerate the recovery process significantly.
Acupuncture is especially recommended for patients with a tendency to create cystic scarring after Rhinoplasty surgery. Fibrosis scarring is a hardening of the nose tissue due to the nature of the skin of some individuals.
Recovery
The rate of recovery from a nose operation depends on several factors, including patient age and type of intervention.
After functional surgery, usually after 10 days you can resume normal daily activities.
After cosmetic rhinoplasty you can expect to take between 1 and 3 weeks to return to normal life activities.
